Some good things

We could all use a little distraction

Jeff recorded some music this last week that will play at the inauguration on Wednesday. So, no matter what you think about Joe Biden, there’s something to look forward to in the ceremony! Jeff’s playing on the track behind John Legend and also playing flute and clarinet on the recording to accompany JLo. He has worked with Jennifer Lopez before and his take away was that yes, she looks great, but like a regular person. “Like you.” he said to me. And so we have stayed married a few more years.

Someone else around here has also been working: Darla Mae! She got a job at our local ACE hardware on 2nd Street around Thanksgiving. Once she started working there (about 3 days a week) her personality came back. Where there used to be a pandemic-induced, downtrodden look on her face, now there are recognizable emotions! It’s terrific and whatever risks there are to her working in a public space are worth having her back. Here’s a picture of her in the ACE red apron, on the job.

Darla has a birthday this Friday, January 22. Please feel free to send her a story from when you were 16/17, or a memory of her as a cute toddler, or something else to take the edge off of turning 17 with no chance of getting tipsy or kissed or smooshed in a sweaty crowd of dancing people. Entertainment options:

We watched “Palm Springs” (on Hulu) for the 2nd time Friday night after pizza. It is a perfect pandemic movie; a “Groundhog Day” for 2020. (I think someone else said that before me.) It will make you chuckle.

This little piece from the NYTimes is the most fun thing I’ve read in a long time: “I recommend eating chips”. I laughed out loud and then ate some chips!
